Description: Superior Court of Arizona, State v. Mr. J. S.  Mr. J. S. was charged with one count of Aggravated Assault, a Class 3 Dangerous Felony and one count of Disorderly Conduct, a Class 6 Dangerous Felony. Mr. J. S. was accused of threatening family members with a knife and a gun. If convicted at trial, Mr. J. S. was facing mandatory prison time. Ms. Castillo submitted a deviation letter detailing the incredible stress and circumstances Mr. J. S. was under during the time of the incident. After conversing with the victim, the state agreed to offer Mr. J. S. an undesignated felony. At sentencing, Mr. J. S. suffered no jail time and eventually had his offense reduced to a misdemeanor.
