Outcome: Assault, a Class 1 Misdemeanor – Probation and no jail.

Description: Maricopa County, State v. Mr. R.P.  Mr. R.P. was accused of one count of Aggravated Assault, a Class 4 Felony and one count of Assault, a Misdemeanor Offense.  Both counts were Domestic Violence offenses.  If convicted at trial Mr. R.P. was facing a permanent felony conviction along with serious collateral consequences due to the domestic violence designation.  After Mr. R.P.’s case was set to trial, Mr. R.P. was offered a plea to a misdemeanor and a non-domestic violence designation.  At sentencing, Mr. R.P. received probation with no jail time.
