Labor day Phoenix 2017 Castillo Law
Labor Day weekend is here, bringing an end to summer – at least technically anyway. Labor Day was declared a national holiday in 1894 by President Cleveland in response to the chaotic strikes caused by disgruntled employees of the Pullman Railway Company. The national holiday appeased the rioters, so you can thank them while you enjoy this wonderful 3-day weekend! According to one study, 3-day weekends can actually help you live longer! That’s right – people who work 40 hours or less every week have significantly less of a chance of having a stroke than those who work more.

Stay out of trouble, and the heat, by treating yourself to one of the numerous events happening around Phoenix this holiday weekend.

  • The 13th Annual Phoenix Cooks, which benefits the Special Olympics of Arizona. The event takes place at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa on Saturday 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Bonus: They even offer a discounted ticket for designated drivers!
  • Pool Parties at different bars and hotels including: Lustre Rooftop Bar, Maya Day & Night Club, and Talking Stick Resort. What’s better to do in Phoenix, Arizona other than listen to live music, devour delicious food, and sip on refreshing beverages while relaxing in a resort- style pool? Just be sure to designate a driver or use Uber of Lyft if you are planning on consuming alcohol.
  • Stay-cation at one of Arizona’s beautiful resorts during their final week of summer specials! As summer is coming to an end, so are all of the resort deals. Some of the Valley’s reputable resorts include the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass, Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch, and Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.
