I’ve been charged with DUI, what do I do now?

What do do after youve been charged with a DUI

  1. Write down as much information as you possibly can with respect to what you did leading up to the officer stopping you or making contact with you.
  2. Write down and memorize as much information about the initial stop or contact by the officer including the weather, traffic conditions, road hazards, etc.
  3. Gather and write down all witness names and addresses and contact numbers who may have witnessed you before the officer contacted you, during the officer contact, and soon after officer contact.
  4. Take pictures of the area where the officer initially observed you driving and where he alleges you drove suspiciously.
  5. Obtain any and all receipts that may show how much alcohol you consumed the day of the incident.
  6. Provide a list of all medications that you are taking.
  7. Provide a list of all physical and mental conditions that may have affected your performance on field sobriety tests and what the officers observed and how they perceived you.
  8. Provide all professional licenses that you hold, organizations that you belong to, or changes in immigration status if you are not a united states citizen that might be affected by the DUI charge.
  9. Obtain and/or provide any and all previous traffic citations that may be burdening your current drivers license.
  10. Provide your attorney with your expected goals for the case, educational and career goals, and any expected future travel and/or change of resident status.
