Sex offender probationers must comply with all probation terms and/or requirements.  If a probationer has violated the terms of probation, the probation officer can file a Petition to Revoke Probation and the probationer will have to return to court to see a judge.  In some situations, the probationer’s probation officer can obtain a warrant for the probationer’s arrest.  Not all probationers have the same terms or requirements while on probation.  Some probationers have more restrictions than others depending on how far along they are in treatment.  Here are the top ten reasons why a probationer on sex offender probation might get violated.

  1. Probationer picked up a new criminal case.
  2. Probationer failed to obtain written approval before using the internet.
  3. Probationer failed to obtain written approval before possessing and/or using a smart phone or computer device.
  4. Probationer had contact with their victim, or attempted to contact their victim, either directly or indirectly, without written approval by probation.
  5. Probationer failed to obtain written approval before having contact with a child under the age of 18.  
  6. Probationer failed to obtain written approval before going to a school, park, or location primarily used by children.
  7. Probationer failed to participate and remain in sex offender treatment as directed by their probation team.
  8. Probationer failed to obtain prior written approval before changing their address and/or employment.  
  9. Probationer failed to abide by curfew hours.
