Description: Maricopa County Superior Court, State v. Mr. C.
Mr. C. assaulted his mother with a dangerous instrument while he was intoxicated and undergoing psychosis related to mental health issues. Mr. C. had one prior felony conviction. The prosecutor’s first plea offer was for Mr. C. to plead to the charge with a prison sentence of 2 – 3.5 years in the Department of Corrections.
After a settlement conference and production of mitigation to the prosecutor, Castillo Law was able to negotiate a plea to supervised probation with a substance abuse and mental health treatment plan incorporated into the plea, with no jail time.
