State v. Mr. M. (2019)

Practice Area: Criminal Law / Violent Crimes / Assault

Date: November 22, 2019

Outcome:    Charges reduced

Description: Mr. M. was accused of shooting a man after he confronted him and his family members on a job site and was ultimately charged with 4 dangerous felonies. Mr. M. was facing many years in prison if he lost at trial.  The State offered him a plea to a minimum of 10 years in prison. After an investigation, the attorneys at Castillo Law convinced the State that a jury would likely believe that Mr. M. was acting in self-defense and defense of others.  Mr. M. pled guilty to two (2) counts of Disorderly Conduct as class 6 undesignated felonies with no agreements as to the sentence. The Judge sentenced Mr. M. to three (3) years of probation and thirty (30) days in jail as a term of probation.  Upon completion of his probation term, Mr. M. can request the convictions be designated as misdemeanors.
