Hi my name is Cindy Castillo with Castillo law. What happens if you are in public and you are intoxicated?

In the state of Arizona there is no public intoxication law. However it’s very important that you consider whether or not an officer can charge you with some other type of offense when you are intoxicated in public.

For example if you are disturbing the peace and quiet of others or if you’re disturbing a store or liquor establishment you can be charged with disorderly conduct. Also if an officer sees you urinating in public this is another offense that you can be charged with. If an officer feels that perhaps you are endangering yourself or endangering people on the highway because you are walking in the roadway this is another offense that you can be charged with.

So just because we do not have public intoxication laws does not mean that you cannot be charged with an offense. If you find yourself charged with one of these other types of offenses pleased feel free to contact me, I offer free consultations.
